Gedd-Stock 2009 will be on Sunday July 5th. Here's a Message from organiser, Rick Loak: It's nearly two years since the last Gedd-Stock. If you remember, we had to postpone the July date due to bad weather and re-arrange for the 12th August, the Glorious Twelfth - and so it was, one of the best days of a poor summer on which we raised £3,300 for charities and other organisations. This year, Gedd-Stock will be on Sunday 5th July, as usual, in the garden and car park of the White Hart in West Street.
As the economic climate gets worse, it will be difficult to raise the much needed funds for the charities, so if you are willing to donate and part-sponsor the event with cash or perhaps a prize for the raffle, please contact me on 01536 460839 or email richard.loak@btopenworld.com. If you want to give a donation by cheque, please make it out to 'GEDD-STOCK' and not to me personally. The names of sponsors will be displayed on boards at the side of the stage, in the local papers and on this web site. Sadly this year, we will be without Chris Baker, a great sound man, musician and friend, who as you may know, died suddenly last December. At past Gedd-Stocks, Chris provided the sound system and his expertise in giving a professional sound to all the bands was second to none. Chris, the son of a vicar, had a way with words; mainly, "**** off and leave it to me".
This year, I'm very pleased to say that Chris's widow, Rachael, has agreed to let us use the sound system (thanks Rach) and we will do our best to reproduce the quality of sound that we've had at the past four Gedd-Stocks. The full list of bands for this year has yet to be confirmed but there'll be some old favourites and hopefully a couple of new ones. As usual, we will try to please all tastes in music. We will have the usual stalls, raffle and barbecue with the outside bar serving from the garage in the Hart's car park. We have no shortage of willing helpers on the day or in the setting up and tearing down, which spans three days - thanks everyone for your offers of time. Here's looking forward to a great day and to us making shed-loads of money! Regards, Rick Loak The band line up for 2009 is: Alan Mills and the Hucklebuck Band The Hire 'em Fire 'ems The Alcoholics
